The Challenge

The Mattress Firm awarded Mediacomp the media planning & buying duties with 4 goals: Increase same store sales, expand into multiple markets, enable the owners to fish more often and to make the owners multi-millionaires by the time they turned 40.

The Strategy

During our time working together from 1994-1999, we assisted with franchise and corporate expansion into other markets. This was achieved by providing research on the competition, as well as the cost to “own” market share based on share of voice. They then could work the feasibility model of the number of locations to build in each market.

The Result

Mattress Firm opened their 100th store during this time and grew their presence from 4 markets to 23 markets with over 200 locations. Same store sales increased 3%-21% while maintaining budgets to a percent of store sales.
At the end of 1999 The Mattress Firm was sold to an investment firm. During our partnership all 4 original goals were reached, and we wish Steve, Paul, and Harry continued success.
